Participation Regulations Mounted Military Performance Tour (MPTTP)
Article 1 – General Provisions
- These regulations apply to all events organized around or during the MPTTP and to all individuals involved in the event.
- Anyone participating in, contributing to, or organizing the MPTTP is expected to be familiar with and accept these provisions.
- The owner of a horse participating in the MPTTP must have liability insurance before participating (this is included for rented horses).
- Riders must have sufficient riding skills to complete the ride “fit from start to finish.”
- The use of unauthorized substances and medications is prohibited for both horses and participants.
- In cases not covered by the regulations, actions should be taken in the spirit of the sport, prioritizing fair play and the well-being of both humans and animals.
- Participants must follow the instructions of the organization regarding the event.
- The MPTTP chairman reserves the right to exclude individuals who fail to comply with these regulations.
Article 2 – The Event
- Participation in the MPTTP is open to:
- Employees of Dutch and foreign uniformed professions;
- Military and police personnel (active or retired);
- Employees of the Royal Stables Department;
- Members of the Military Equestrian Sports Association;
- Members of the veterinary association V.S.R. “De Solleysel.”
- Participation is possible either mounted (under the saddle) or as a team with TPA (Tactical Pack Animal).
- It is allowed to bring a lead horse/pack animal alongside a riding horse, provided the rider has sufficient riding skills and has trained for this before the MPTTP. This must be reported to the organization in advance.
- The organization prioritizes the well-being of humans and animals and expects participants to act accordingly.
- By participating in the MPTTP, you agree that:
- Your phone number may be used in case of emergencies, communication, and location tracking;
- Your contact details may be used to provide information regarding the event;
- Photos taken during the event may be posted on (social) media channels.
- During the event, dinner will be provided for all participants and volunteers on Friday evening, and food will be available throughout Saturday. Adequate water will be available for the horses at rest points; any additional feed must be provided by the participants.
- Participants may overtake other teams in consultation, as long as safety is maintained.
Article 3 – Liability
- Participation in the MPTTP is at one’s own risk; the organization and board are in no way liable for any damages incurred during the event.
- The MPTTP organization is not responsible for personal belongings brought to the event.
- Each participant is responsible for their own actions during the event.
- The organization is not responsible for consequences arising from inadequate preparation of the horse and/or rider, such as fitness or equipment issues.
Article 4 – Animal Welfare
- Participants must comply with the Animal Health and Welfare Act and its regulations regarding horses.
- Participating horses must be at least 4 years old.
- Participating horses must have been vaccinated against influenza in the past year and be in good health.
- The organization must provide veterinary support during the event. If this is not possible, a veterinarian must be on call.
- The veterinarian has the authority to withdraw a horse from the event based on clinical examination findings.
- The veterinarian provides veterinary inspection papers at the start of the event. These must be carried throughout the ride and shown upon request. Losing this document results in exclusion from the event.
- The veterinarian serves as an advisor on veterinary matters for the organization and participants.
- The route will indicate where it is safe to walk, trot, or gallop. This is not a speed competition; participants must adhere to these signals.
- Tack must be in good condition and properly fitted to prevent pressure sores or discomfort.
- A farrier will be available on Saturday for emergencies. Any costs incurred will be charged to the owner.
- The route has been carefully planned for the safety of both horse and rider. As parts of the route pass through a military shooting range, unexploded ordnance (UXO) may be present. Deviating from the designated route may result in exclusion from the event.
Article 5 – Stabling
- The organization provides stabling for participants bringing their own horses.
- Participants must indicate during registration if they require stabling.
- The organization ensures that safety measures are in place in the stables.
- Participants must bring their own roughage and concentrate feed.
- Clean drinking water is available, but participants must bring their own buckets.
- Each stall must have a halter and lead rope in case a horse needs to be removed due to an emergency.
- Horses must not wear halters in the stall to prevent entanglement.
- After the event, each participant must clean and empty their stall.

Article 6 – Participants
- The participant is responsible for how they ride their horse.
- The participant is responsible for their own fitness.
- The participant is responsible for the condition and health of their horse during the event.
- Participants must fully cooperate with veterinary inspections during the event.
- Riders renting a horse must have completed at least one outdoor ride on the respective horse within six months prior to the event.
Article 7 – Registration / Cancellation
- For safety reasons, participants must ride in groups of 4 to 8 members, including a Team Captain.
- Upon registration, a Team Captain and a Second-in-Command must be appointed. They must ride in the same team.
- Each team must have a name, which must be provided upon registration.
- Participants receive a start number for their horse upon registration (on Friday at the event office). This number must be visibly attached to the horse’s bridle during the ride.
- Participants who cancel after August 1st are not entitled to a refund of the registration fee.
- The registration fee must be paid upon registration.
- The event fee includes a BBQ on Friday evening, meals on Saturday, and accommodation for both rider and horse. No discounts are given if these services are not used.
Article 8 – Attire
- Participating teams must wear uniform attire. Participation in operational uniforms is considered an added value by the MPTTP.
- Riders must wear either a combat helmet or a CE-certified riding helmet (all store-bought riding helmets meet this requirement).
- Riders are responsible for dressing appropriately for the weather and bringing extra clothing if necessary.
- All participants must carry a valid defense pass or identification document.
Article 9 – Code of Conduct
- Physical violence is not tolerated during the event.
- All individuals involved must show respect for each other, each other’s property, and the environment.
- During the event, participants and organizers are expected to assist and support each other where needed.
- Everyone is responsible for maintaining a positive atmosphere and smooth proceedings during the event.
